Meta Blogs reports that Instagram has made changes to its affiliate marketing policies, which is a popular way for creators to earn commissions by promoting other companies’ products. As a part of these updates, Instagram has renamed its "Branded Content Ads" to "Partnership Ads" to better represent the collaborative nature of these sponsored posts.

The main objective of these updates is to ensure that influencers are honest with their followers about any sponsored content they create. Additionally, these changes provide clearer guidelines for brands and advertisers. Instagram's new strategy for affiliate marketing and sponsored content is designed to promote transparency and authenticity on the platform.

With this new update, Instagram has expanded its policy to allow marketers to promote a wider variety of user-generated content, not just posts with the Paid Partnership label, which is now renamed as Partnership Ads. According to Instagram, advertisers can now boost Instagram Collab posts, @mentions, people tags, product tags, and other content without the paid partnership label, in addition to the branded content with the paid partnership label.

This change is aimed at offering more opportunities for brands to monetize user-generated content and enabling creators to establish more business collaborations. Additionally, it broadens the potential ad partners who can approach creators based on their posts, thereby increasing revenue generation opportunities.

Creators can still use the existing procedure to authorize Partnership Ads. They can activate the "Allow brand partner to boost" option, which will give the businesses the right to use their content for promotional campaigns. Then, brands can start the campaign and creators can approve specific collaborations on any content that the brand wishes to use in a paid promotion. This process has not changed with the recent updates.
